For a better perspective on this, does anyone know that the North was
a more developed country than the South in the 50's and 60's?

It's true that the South is more developed today, but its income
gap between the rich and poor is much bigger than the North.
Those poor South Koreans may feel more miserable than the
North Koreans psychologically.
