My understanding is that the Congress, in
appropriating money for the 50th anniversary
commemorative programs, mentioned the
conflict as the "Korean War," in Public Law 105-261,
effective Oct. 17, 1998. But I didn't read the law.
So, check with DOD public info officer if you want to
be certain.

BTW, if Truman is alive today, he may have called the
current US military action in Afganistan as "Police Action,"
for sure.
