RE: Interview with MiiG Ace of the Korean War

Hello, everybody.
I would like to add a few data more about the subject: Major Dmitri
Vasilievich Yermakov was also a WW2 Ace credited with 25 kills against
German Luftwaffe while he served in the 123rd and 159th IAP.
Addittionaly, Starshii Leitenant (Sr.Lt.) Grigorii N. Berelidze was also
credited as a MiG-15 Ace in 1953, and what follows is the translated
trnasciption of The Operational Summary No.0097 from the Soviet 64th IAK
reported on 7 April 1953:

“At 1610, six MIG-15s of the 224th IAP (led by Senior Lieutenant
Anisimov) battled with four F-86s in the area of Kizjo at an altitude of
13,000 meters. At 1640 upon approach to Danu airfield, Senior Lieutenant
Berelidze's pair attacked one F-86 which was pursuing Senior Lieutenant
Ugryumov at an altitude of 1,000-1,500 meters. Senior Lieutenant Berelidze
shot down one F-86 from a distance of 400 meters at a 1/4 quartering angle.
The pilot: Captain Harold Edward Fischer, service number A02204126, Flight
Commander, 39th Air Squadron, 51st Wing, was taken prisoner. “

Addittionally, I personally could confirm 2 out of Berelidze’s 5
claims: besides Hal Fischer on 7 April 1953, it seems that he scored another
Sabre kill few days later on 12 April 1953, when he was, most likely, who
shot down the F-86E piloted by Norman E. Green (335 FIS, 4 FIW) over Suiho
hidroelectric plant. It must be noted that other 2 pilots of his regiment
claimed F-86s that day (Lazarev and Doroshenko).
In that same combat another MiG-15 Ace, Kapetan (Captain) Semyen Alexeievich
Fedorets (913 IAP, 32 IAD) shot down and killed 1st Lt. Robert Niemann and
later engaged the future leading US Ace of F-86 Sabre, Captain Joseph
McConnell (39 FIS, 51 FIW), and both shot down each other (I mean, they shot
down mutually). I hope this info helps you.

IAP is the Russian acronym of Fighter Aviation Regiment
IAD is the Russian acronym of Fighter Aviation Division
