They were fighting their own war of liberation from the French at the time and did not participate as far as anyone knows. There appears to have been some cooperation between 1954 and 1967, however, which went south when KPAFAC pilots begin getting shot down in large numbers and taking a good portion of the VPAF's MiG-17 force with them when they went.
