Hi Maury-
The question is always amazing and amusing to me.
Not the ones that embarrass us or make us feel uncomfortable. Only the
weird ones want to relive it over and over.
Do bad things happen in all wars? Of course they do, use your logic. Chuck
Yeager quietly answers questions about straffing women and children
unprotected civilians as a 21 year old P-51 pilot. He says he was just
following orders. A respected acedemic sociologist tells us years later
about his troops killing 15-20 unarmed young, crying and pleading German
soldiers in a bomb crater, the Great Turkey Shoot. This when he was a young
2nd Lt. platoon leader. Pilots killed hundreds of thousands of old people and
babies in cities in Germany and Japan and most were able to get on with their
lives. I have never heard one of my friends brag about it.
I think it was Phil Cavuto who told us that the toughest, most brutal guy
in the world, is a 19 year old US Marine. He is not so concerned with civil
rights, political correct, etc. Not when he is trying to save his life or
those he loves. He will hear about that later on in life, in hindsight.
Would he do it again under the same circumstances. Probably.
Never forget...we are the good guys. Always have been, always will be.
