It sounds very powerful.
How long did the Naval bombing last?
According to a reference source I checked, each round from 16 inch guns
had the explosive power of 2,700 Ib--much more powerful than
the 500 Ib that the Air Force used.
It seems the Navy also engaged
in carpet bombing, using their Naval guns, during
the K.W. For instance, the Naval guns bombarded
the city of Wonsan for 41 straight days and nights
in the last months before the Armistice, setting a new
world record. Does anyone have any idea why the
Navy did this?
