When this was released, the Students at my High School (Jacksboro, TX)
adopted this as a 2d part to the Pledge of Allegience and it was said in
all High School Assemblies.

"I will never forget that I am an American Citizen, responsible for my
actions, and dedicated to the principles which made my country free. I
will trust in my God and the United States of America."

But then we did have a number of students (about 80 %) who were
relatives, close friends and so on of American Soldiers who were tortured
by the Koreans and Japanese in World War II and airmen and soldiers who
were captured fighting the Germans.

It used to always surprise the Military Recruiters that came to talk to
us.
