Task Force Smith was not exterminated!  The piece of trash we had for an anti-tank weapon had been denounced seven years before by MG Gavin after his troops used it in Sicicly.  We confirmed this and eventually did get the 3.5 (your 89 mm).  The third battalion of the 21st Infantry was hurt badly on 10 and 11 July.  Love Company lost all its officers but me and one who was captured, and all its NCOs but Hugh Brown, a deserter forward from the Division Headquarters.  "I" Company was hurt almost as badly.
