The equipment was from WW II, no antifreeze for the vehicles. Put
water in them in the morning, as they idled all day long, then were
drained at night. My machine-gun was dated 1917, the ammo ran
through all kinds of dates, the C rations were dated 1943 to 1945 and
this is in 1951. The batteries for the R 300 radio when taken out of
a new box, would fail to work as they were dead.
We were still eating them at ROTC Camp at Ft. Hood in '60.
