RE: The Pueblo Archives
Slick Willies policies, as you called him, has GWb back pedaling
because he check mated Kim Il NK at the right time.
GWb almost cause a crisis, based on earlier postings.
Then the P3 incident happened.
IMHO...NK is like an adict.
Sooner or later they will have to join the real world.
China has long since tired of the draconian policies the Chinese
already went through with their Maoist leadership.
The old guys die out, the internet is in.
Information will leak and the younger guys will eventually have the say.

I don't think George W. Bush will end the Armistice we
are observing with the north Koreans. Unlike Iraq,
the north Koreans can strike back and inflict
thousands of casualties on the US forces stationed
there now as well as cause high casualties among our
ROK allies. I have no doubt that the US & ROK forces
would ultimately win, but the cost would be too high.
I think the President just mentioned them last night
because he needed a non-Islamic country on our
potential list of targets so he is not accused of
targeting only Muslim countries.
No matter what provocation the north Koreans have
perpetrated over the years (Blue House raid, Pueblo
seizure, submarine infiltrations, Rangoon bombing,
nuclear weapons program, Crab Wars, etc.), the US has
never launched any cross-DMZ operations. The US &
ROKs just hunt down the infiltrators and take actions
in self-defense.
I saw some US Forces Korea briefing charts years ago
that said something like, "the President decides when
we go to war in Iraq, Kim Jong Il decides when we go
to war in Korea." Of course that was back when Slick
Willy was the president, I could be wrong about the
current occupant of the Oval Office.
