I think you are wrong on MacA-Rhee relationship.
MacA provided his plane, Battan, to Rhee on his own volition.
MacA had a similar strong anti-communist outlook like Rhee
and MacA was a strong supporter of Rhee, even when State Dept.
was trying to back a moderate Korean leader like Yuh Woon-hyung.

Note this speech of MacA at the inauguration of Rhee
as Pres. in 8/48:
"You(Rhee) can defend upon it that I will defend S.K. as I
would defend the shores of my own native land."

BTW, the guy who introduced Rhee to MacA was an
OSS officer named Preston Goodfellow.
Do you have any info on him?
