Re: Chinese/Russian/N.K. Casualty

You are sure that there would have been no massive deaths?
That is a broad statement.  Where do you get your sources?
It was more then a Civil War...it was alos a Cold War.

It is estimated that civilian casualties far exceeded military casualties.

Gill,

620,000 for N.K troops sound too high, considering that
they began the war with about 100,000.
What's your source?

You are absolutely right about civilian casualty.
Estimate is about 1M for S.Koreans and 2M for
N.Korean civilian deaths, aside from the tragedy of
10M family members being separated.

Those who claim US success in the K.W.
forget about this immense loss of human lives.
N.Koreans could probably argue that, if the US
didn't intervene in the civil war, Koreans could
have quickly united as a one nation, avoided all
those destructions and deaths, and achieved a
more rapid economic development, avoiding all
those billions of dollars on military spending.
(I just mention this to give you a different perspective
on the issue...fully knowing what Maury will cry about this)
