South Korean Intentions

This is sort of a response to Glen's email as well as a question.

Glen, I've seen the book you're talking about, although it's not on my
bookshelf.  I'm headed to Barnes & Noble tomorrow and will see if we have it
here.

My question is this: how could anyone possibly think that South Korea was
going launch a preemptory attack?  Hadn't we taken our plans and artillery
out when the US withdrew in the late 40's? (Leaving the 500 or so KMAG
forces.)  And it was my impression that the ROK didn't have any of either.
