Re: Is Nogun-ri still going on?

Clinton and the military -- not a good topic for this list.

The basic reason one has an armed force is to be the last arbiter of political will, something the socialists never understood. It does not do peacekeeping, it does not do nationbuilding, and it does not have to constantly try and carry out missions without the correct (military chosen) force. Strikes one, two and three.

The only reason the military was used for these poor choices was Madeline Albright who summed up the views of the Clinton Administration this way: "What good is it to have the world's best military if we can't use it?"

Think of trying "nation-building" in Korea in 1950. Either Rhee would have shot our troops to get at their weapons or Kim would have herded them into POW camps and charged exhorbitant ransom to get them back.

Dumb ideas. Note that we are not really going to get involved (unless someone does the same dumb thing) in the in-depth "nation-building" in Afghanistan.
