My Personal experience. I rarely meet a Korean in the US that is friendly.
Even the Korean/Japanese resturants that we frequent, I feel like we are
only tolerated for our money.  In the WDC area there is still a lot of Joon
Rhee Karate Schools.  Aside from a few Korean collegues who have lived hear
a while.  My experience that Koreans just do not like Americans.

Am I experiencing this alone? Or am I over reacting.

My Experience is the same , both in Korea and here at home . When on relief and off the MLR  I had KSCs
( Korean Service Command ) cutting timber for defense positions in case we had to fall back . We were only two GIs back there with 15-20  non weapon carrying
KSCs . I slept every night with my 45 if not in my hand
it was in the sleeping bag with me . On the MLR I rarely  felt the need for that .
