Huh? I've seen the displays at the USAFM of weapons and not one of the
Japanese weapons looks work beans. Most of them are oversized and overweight.
The German Mauser MG151 series were judged as top line weapons for their rate
of fire and durability, and after the war were used by the US to develop the
Pontiac M139 20mm revolver cannon which we used until we switched to the
Vulcan. Those came in 15mm and 20mm sizes.
Browning's designs are still in use -- note that 81 years after it was
developed the US is still using "Ma Deuce", Browning's .50 caliber.
