15 to 1 Ratio Debunked

Hey Ron;
I am glad Iam not at least making any more enemies. I would have to
challenge you in a airbattle game of Airwarrior or Warbirds. I have more
then 2000 hours dogfighting experience on the SIM. The average god pilots
could only maintain a constant 2 to maybe 5 to 1 air kill ratio consistently
over a 6 week period.

Too many early books have listed 15 to 1 ratio. It has been debunked and it
has been coming from declassified files and most of the current books on
Korea.

We were fighting against crack Russian pilots with a good training program.
Even the Germans in WW2 could only maintain a air to air 2 to 1 ratio over
the Russian pilots throughout WW2. We did no better.

Not to mention that the Russian were shooting down great qualtities of Navy,
Marine, USAF and UN aircraft as well. Many of those historians who wrote
their information did not has documented information. Now guys like Diege
and Cookie are researching what reall happened. What is interesting the US
Pilots are verifying Cookies and Diegos research.

Modern day books ahve modern day statistics. Ground crew knew more about who
did not return then most. They also knew how much work they had to do to
repair combat damaged aircraft.

15 to 1 ratio...WOW...That has been debunked.

Hi Dan-

Whoa, I'm beginning to like you better. If we knew each other we might
even be friends, although we could have some good arguements.
I agree, old memories tend to be foggy although that is more true on
particulars, specifics, rather than broad brush generalities (I remember
being in Korea, I just can't remember exactly when :-) How do we know the
flight mechanics memories would be any better than ours?
BTW. 12 or 15 to 1 is verified by Toland and other historians with books
in the library, which inforces my information from a lot of first hand
sources, guys who were there, including me. That was the reason for bringing
in the Sabre, we knew it was a better plane than the MIG-15, which had been
beating us up. I can't believe that that information, and all those guys on
our side who flew the planes, is propaganda or just plain wrong.
I don't believe Cookie or Diego's information is any better than mine. I
took statistics in college :-)
Of course, I could be wrong.

Ron
