I know the R&R (Rest and Recreation) used to be practiced in Saigon, and Cam

'vacational' places during the Korean War?
During the Korean War, if you came down with VD and it was reported, it meant another 90 days on the front before you went home. I went on R & R in Tokyo, August of 51. I looked but did not touch, went home in October of 51 without a problem. I was told, you could make a donation to your company medic for the necessary shots and be off the record.
Aboard ship on the way home, the medics conducted "shot arm inspection" every so often.
