A friend of mine was with the 1st marine enchon 1950 told us he got
R&R over to Japan,but he didn't go back to korea,was ship back to the
States.Years later while talking with him he told us the reason ,He had
three holes thru his guts,was sent to Camp penalton for operations.

I must have missed something, during two tours in Korea
(1950-51, 1953) I never heard of R&R!, Never heard of anyone going on
R&R! The closest I ever encountered in any way was Division reserve (in
country). I guess I was in the wrong outfit.
