Re: ROK Army
John2,
You still don't seem to understand that after WWI the weapons supplied could
NOT have supported a general offensive of any sort, even one only five to ten
kilometers deep into the north. You also seem to keep conveniently ignoring
all of the posts about Kim playing Mao and Stalin off against each other to
get them to back an attack on the south.
Glen explained about what you could try and take with the weapons available,
and yet you still cannot grasp the fact that they will not support an
offensive.
Please see the new issue of ARMY (the AUSA publication) which shows how
difficult it was to keep US forces supplied with ammunition, and that was
with our forces in place. The ROK had no ability to send the amount of
ammunition required forward, and the only reason the PLA was able to try and
meet the UN forces with its own weapons was due to "coolie" supply lines
using an "army ant" mentality (e.g. if 2 million men each carry one round to
the front, we have a supply of 2 million rounds to fire). The ROK did not
have that kind of manpower.
