This is a bit of an overstatement.  Much of our WWII ordnance and gear
lived on to Vietnam including, I believe, the stock of Purple Heart medals,
which lasted even unto the 1980's.

We did fight Korea with equipment which primarily came from WWII or which
had been procured for that War, with only a few later additions such as the
jet fighters -- and, even there, some of these, such as the F-80, had been
built for use against the Germans and Japanese.
