Dan is correct that the numbers ARE wrong, but the new problem is how wrong and for what reason.

So far it would appear that about 60% of USAF claims appear to be correct, whereas the Soviet claims are more like 25% and the Chinese ones much lower still -- perhaps below 20%. 

Total US losses so far by my account are under 3,000 for all services and all UN nations. Many of those are from accidents and mechanical failures so they really are hard to consider combat losses. (Note that Ed McGill does state with some authority that some maintenance was substandard and at least one B-29 was lost to incorrectly repaired combat damage.)
