Re: How about eats?

Ron, "Two hot meals for the forward elements...when tactically possible." I assume by "tactically possible" you mean when in reserve. I landed at Inchon (Sept.15, 1950) and never tasted hot food until I arrived at Yokosuka Naval hospital on Dec. 12. I returned in March 51, then survived on C rations until rotation in November- with the exception of two weeks in reserve.
Of course I can't speak for everyone, but of all the men I served with (Two Tours) in Korea, they all carried back packs which contained mess gear - that included a knife, spoon and fork. The only exception was at the Chosin...eating Tootsie Rolls did not require spoons. Incidentally, the can opener that I carry on my key ring today is the same can opener that I had in my pocket on Sept.15,1950.
