Well, they don't call it "La-La Land" for lack of a better name. Sort of ignores the 8,000 or so POWs who kept the faith and returned.

The dodges used are quite different from the story put forth by Hal Fischer, and that makes an interesting comparsion. There's a good version of it in the Chancey/Forstchen book "Hot Shots" which bears reading and contemplation.
