"Heavy" perhaps, but it isn't peculiar to the South Koreans.   I was in
Paris in March and visited the Musee d'Armee.  Although much of the museum
is given over to the middle ages and the Napoleonic era there is a very
substantial exhibit on World War II.  I have very little French but it was
apparent even to me that the liberation of France was being presented as
primarily the result of efforts by DeGaulle and the Free French Forces.  So,
the desire to emphasize the role of one's own forces in war is universal,
and probably shouldn't surprise outside observers - even those who
participated.
