Hi Dan-

   Well, maybe so, but the conclusion depends on how you perceive the 
question. Most of us in America felt, at the time, that the invasion of 
Formosa by the Chinese Communists was something we were willing to use force 
to prevent. 
   No matter how you view them, South Korea and Formosa have been much more 
successful than their counterparts. Maybe it helps to have us as a friend :-)
