RE: The Hidden History of the Korean War

Interesting..
This explains the uneasy relationship Stalin and Mao had with each other.
Over time Russia got tired of not getting paid by China for products and
services

with the help and "supervision" of the Soviet Union agents in North Korea?
Rocca, Raymond G., and John J. Dziak. Bibliography on Soviet Intelligence
and Security Services (Westview, 1985) is not indexed by subject. In
http://intellit.muskingum.edu/intellsite/russia_folder/russiatoc.html
mentioned Goncharov, Sergei N., John W. Lewis, and Xue Litai. Uncertain
Partners: Stalin, Mao, and the Korean War. Stanford, CA: Stanford University
Press, 1993. "According to Rich, WIR 15.1, the authors "reveal for the first
time the creation of the Sino-Soviet alliance that led to involvement in the
Korean invasion." In addition, they show that "a lack of accurate
intelligence about the real prospects for North Korean success in the
proposed invasion of South Korea indirectly injured the Soviet-Chinese
relationship."

An add to this post: Sometime in early Dec 1949, U.S. & ROK
military intelligence discovered that EVERY net they had in NK had been
compromised so shut all existing nets down and began establishing new nets.
This effort was in its early stages when the war started. Thus there was no
reliable "positive" intelligence coming out of NK from Dec 1949 on. At that
point time, the Agency was new in Korea so didn't have any meaningful nets
operational either.
