HAHAHA. This was no dream for me. I was armed with a "grease
gun" when I went ashore at Inchon. You couldn't hit the side of a barn with the
thing .... even if you were inside the barn! And being all-metal meant it
was all-rust. A Marine at Kimpo admired it, so I swapped it to him for his M1
rifle.
We got into a firefight shortly after that, and the
rifle jammed after the first shot. Try as I might I couldn't close the
receiver. I started dismantling it when my platoon sergeant crawled up
behind me.
"Dove, what the hell are you doing?" he asked.
"I am cleaning my rifle, sergeant," I replied.
"Well, you picked a hell of a time to do it," he grunted, then
crawled away.
