To go a little off-topic here: I'm not sure what your opinion on this is, but the urban Northerner--rural Southerner dichotomy is much exaggerated in many accounts of the Civil War. The North certainly was more urbanized and industrialized than the South, but both regions were still predominantly agrarian in 1861.
