Re: Rewriting History
Jose, I thank you for your reply. I will check the link you suggested.
Forgive my ignorance, but is there a connection between the 65th and Task Force Dog? I stated my skepticism regarding the northern travels of the 65th-I'm sure you are aware that a lowly infantryman's knowledge of a battle is usually restricted to a 3 yard perimeter around his foxhole-That being said, I made the trip south until Chinhung-ni where I was shot up and finished the trip in an ambulance, at no time before that did I encounter any US Army troops. I do know that the 1st Battalion of the 1st Marine regiment came out of the Hungnam perimeter to take hill 1021 (in the Funchillian Pass). The hill dominated the pass, was heavily occupied by Chinese, and would have been a formidable obstacle to the Division moving south. As an aside, I did some net surfing and found the KIA's for the 65th Regiment (battalion by battalion) for the period-late October to Evacuation was 18 KIA's. If any of my info is wrong, I would appreciate knowing it. Lee
