Art,
I presume you landed at Inchon to a welcome party
of Japanese honor guards. In early August 1945, the Japanese Governor
General had a series of secret meetings with Yo Un Hyong and agreed to turn over
the government to an interim Korean government.
Cocurrently, the commander of the Army in Korea
(josen-gun) was in radio comm with the American general in charge of the US
occupation army in Korea.
The US military overruled the governor and
the Japanese military and police stayed on in South Korea.
