To begin a new thread, simply change the "Subject" line to the topic you would like to discuss. In this case, I clicked "Reply" to your post, then erased the "Subject" and replaced it with the new topic. It really is that simple.
If you starting a new thread, just compose a new letter and send it to:
KOREAN-WAR-L@raven.cc.ku.edu When done in this way, there will not be any old text like there is when clicking "Reply."
For what it matters, I try to make it a habit to clean-up all of the unnecessary ads, etc. in my posts when I click "Reply" so that only the previous text that I want to refer to remains showing. To me it's just a little thing, a courtesy if you will, for those who may be in situations where computer time is at a premium, or large file sizes can pose a problem. People on this list are already courteous in this respect, but I thought I would mention it as it's part of the "How To" tutorial that I occasionally give.
You asked a good question, Bob, as our threads are often times improperly titled, which ultimately will make future historical retrieval difficult. It would be a shame if a veteran's primary history were to be overlooked one day by an historian because the content line was improperly labeled.
