I read that 80% of the Korean adoptees are of
mixed blood.
You'll notice ones with very light skin or curly
hair.
Koreans tend to not want to adopt because they
want a son that is "pure"
and can carry on their blood line. It all
goes back to Old Man Confucious.
Anyway, it's less acceptable for a Korean man to
marry outside of the Korean
nationality than it is for a Korean woman because
under the old Confucian system
(according to Korean sociologists!) the daughter
was out of the family once she
was married but the man had to carry on the bloodline.
I don't know if Koreans don't really "sell off"
their kids these days. I think It's more of a
matter of unwed mothers that can't find a husband otherwise. They write letters to
their
babies appoligising and a lot of Korean adoptees have tracked down their birth
mothers
this way.
SE Asian countries, I don't study those much
really. I think it's great that Americans
will take the babies Korean society doesn't
want. It shows how compassionate the
"Imperialist Yankee Murderers" can
be. 20% of the "588" that results in adoptive babies
is apparently done
by the Koreans, and guess who takes them?

It seems in the Asian counties selling off
their children is more common place then left to believe.
I found this out. It is easier to adopt
an Asian Child then getting an American born baby through our service
organizations here in the USA. Got a big
education on that last weekend.
Then my friends from Burma, Vietnam and
Cambodia made some broad statements that most Asian countrries,
including China, India and Korea, parents sell off their Daughters to
brokers. Seems it is very is common and most going to Brothels,
others as servants. What they had to say was quite gripping.
Parralleing much of what has been stated in these posts.

I expect I'm about to upset several list members,
but.........Unfortunately, the connection between war and rape is
centuries old. There are a fair number of studies of rape in
war. No, most soldiers don't rape. But "enough" do.
And, I'm sorry to say, that US soldiers also rape - even during
peacetime. So, while some of the claims are probably bogus,
many are almost certainly true.

I cannot believe anyone would molest the
kids that worked for them. They were like our own brother or sister or
child. They were the most trusting and honest kids we could have ever
found to help us. Maybe in some other outfits that happened but hard
to believe. An isolated case maybe
