Re: On Korean War anniversary, North says U.S. started it and was beaten

Will,

You sound like the north Korean official web site.
Here is an article from today's "news." At least they
managed to get the name of the name of the commander
of the United Nations Command correct.

U.S. unprecedentedly barbarous destruction condemned
Pyongyang, June 28 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialist
aggressors perpetrated unprecedentedly barbarous and
indiscriminate destruction of areas of the northern
half of Korea during the last Korean War (1950-1953).
Clark, the then commander of the "UN Forces", ordered
a "Scorched-Earth Operation," threatening to "wipe 78
cities in the north off the map."
An average of 18 bombs were dropped per 1 km2 of
the northern half of Korea during the war.
In Pyongyang alone, nearly 430,000 bombs were
dropped over it. They were more than the number of its
population at that time.
Some 600,000 tons of bombs were dropped by the
U.S. over urban and rural areas of Korea or 3.7 times
those dropped over the Japanese territory during the
pacific war.
Its acts of destruction in Korea was
indiscriminate.
U.S. war planes indiscriminately bombed at least
1,000 hospitals and clinics with clearly visible red
cross.
Their air raids reduced to ashes more than 1,900
churches, cathedrals and temples, and cultural and
welfare establishments and historic relics in
thousands of places. The U.S. barbarous bombing
levelled to the ground over 8,700 factories and
enterprises, more than 600,000 houses, over 5,000
schools and over 260 theaters and cinemas.
Meanwhile, 370,000 hectares of paddy and non-paddy
fields were destroyed and 90,000 hectares of
cultivated land were lost and many irrigation
facilities and dykes seriously damaged.
