Re: Yellow Sea Battle

Donald,

There is a map at http://www.kimsoft.com/2002/westsea2.jpg

I don't understand why the Communist side did not ask for a line in the West Sea at the truce talks.  NLL (northern line of limits) was drawn by the US after the truce agreement.

Subject: Yellow Sea Battle

Ed:

The Chosun Ilbo article refers to the sea battle being 26 miles west of
Yeonpyongdo. I cannot find the island on my nautical chart 94033. Could
it be possibly Soyonp'yong Do (about 30 miles west of Seoul), or more
likely Paengnyoung Do (referred to as PY-Do)? Didn't you operate out of
PY-Do during the K-War? My chart says that the three islands that
include PY-Do are (or were) under UN control, and is in a generally
contested area between North and South Korea..
