At the time the cease fire was signed, we held all the islands off North
Korea so NK was happy to have these islands back as part of the package
since these included the islands between Haeju man and Paengnyong-do that
were directly adjacent to the coastline. This did not include
Paengnyong-do, Taechong-do, Sochong-do just south of the 38th Parallel at
the far west end of the Onjin Peninsula and Yongp'yong-do island group at
the mouth of Haeju Man. Nor any of the islands between Yongp'yong-do and
the mouth of the Han River. Since the only deep water port in this stretch
at that time was Haeju I doubt anyone, inlcuding NK and China, gave much
thought to "line of limits."
