Yes. Most of the major maitenance facilities were located in Japan, IIRC Iwakuni was one of the main maint sites. Aircraft would get 100 hour checks, engine replacements, upgrades and application of work orders, etc.

Also Misawa was used early on. They developed the oversize tip tanks for F-80s which increased their range and loiter time, plus confused the Soviets into believing any aircraft with the larger tanks was an "F-94" and not an F-80.
