I recall that the first of the call-ups we received were Inactive Reservists. One of them had 23 days to go to complete law school and couldn't get a month deferment. After we got him we managed to work out an agreement with his school, on of the Ivy League, to take the final exams in Tokyo under supervision of someone in the GHQ JAG.

A vet attended the reunion of the Chosin Few in San Antonio. He told a news reporter he was on a troop ship with some Marine reservists on their way to Korea. He said some of these had never gone through boot camp. He said they were being taught to fire M1 rifles off the fantail of the ship.
