Out of curiosity I dug out my 1950 copy of Rand-McNally's Road Map of
Korea, scale 1:1,000,000 (as is the L451 series road map Sandy mentioned)
to see if they called the reservoir "Changjin" or "Chosin." On this road
map the Changjin River was shown and the outline of the reservoir but
didn't have the reservoir named. The 1952 AMS Series L-751, 1:250,000
scale, shows the reservoir as the "Changjin Reservoir."
The series of maps on the KW that West Point has on their site
<http://www.dean.usma.edu/history/dhistorymaps/Atlas%20Page.htm> has Chosin.
See

An excellent site IMHO.
