Out of curiosity I dug out my 1950 copy of Rand-McNally's Road Map of
Korea, scale 1:1,000,000 (as is the L451 series road map Sandy mentioned)
to see if they called the reservoir "Changjin" or "Chosin." On this road
map the Changjin River was shown and the outline of the reservoir but
didn't have the reservoir named. The 1952 AMS Series L-751, 1:250,000
scale, shows the reservoir as the "Changjin Reservoir."
Ed,
There you are!
Some maps had the place correctly during the War.
So, the excuse that it was only shown as "Chosin" at the time
does not hold up.
