I am alarmed at the possibility of jail for dissent in history (the study
of), even malicious dissent. I think Germany has made itself a very poor
example in this regard. Academic fraud or poor work, or unsupportable claims
are best dealt with in the academic environment, and a healthy press should
include mechanisms to cope with dishonest reporting.

Having said that, the Typhoon Rusa story is written in fairly provocative
language (the English version at the URL, that is). Journalism is often
sensational, but when it abandons any pretence to objectivity it comes under
a higher scrutiny for credibility.
