Maury,
>>I remember one called Angry 9. Is thuis sometimers working or was there
really an angry 9? CRAFT<<
The Angry 9 is AN/GRC-9, an improved version of the WWII SCR-596. I know
we used some on our boats early on but later we mainly used Navy TBS-12s on
the mother boats and PRC-10's on the "little boys," which could communicate
with the TBS-12. I was always amazed that I could talk loud and clear with
the commo shack on Wolmi-do from Paengnyong-do area using a PRC-10 at night
and often during the day. That was a hundred miles plus. Of course that
was a direct, over-the water shot and the antenna on Wolmi-do was pretty
well up on the hill.
