Yes, all of the USMC artillery FO team used the SCR300. I believe it weighed 
about 60 pounds and was powered by a wet cell battery, which seemed to weigh 
about ten pounds, we always carried two extra batteries. It was a lot of 
weight to carry around considering that we rarely used it- We used field 
telephones most of the time. I do remember the ANGRC-9. They had one in the 
battery comm section. It was generated by a hand crank- no one ever seemed to 
be able to get it working.
I thank you all for the info on the 50 caliber rifle. It still puzzles me as 
to why anyone would want such a weapon. What is the value of a single shot 
rifle that would have to be  crew-served (it was much too heavy for one 
person), when the .50 caliber machine gun was available? "Sniper rifle" The 
image of a lonely sniper trying to "Poop and snoop" through the 'boonies' 
dragging that clanging behemoth behind him, when a 1903 would do just as 
well- blows my mind. Lee
