Marines had this dandy radio, a TBS [talk between ships] unit we loved to "find" since it was more powerful that the FM units the army had.

Gene must be dreaming. Anytime the Army was nearby, we engaged in what was called "midnite requisition." So much so that one Army General stated that loved to have the Marines nearby, but he wished someone would take the damn paint away from them. I can personally attest to that- I was in possession on a newly painted weapons carrier that we used to carry all our Comm' gear. ON the other hand, the Army was never stingy with their food, when we were surviving on C rations, The Army always happily fed us from their field kitchen-God Bless Army cooks.
