Re: 1st MarDiv to Korea by back channel



I wonder if that Marine is still alive, and remembers swapping weapons with me.

No, Lee.The M1 wasn't rusty, but it wasn't all-metal like the Grease Gun was. My barrel wasn't rusty, nor was the firing mechanism. But the body of the weapon was. I think I mentioned here the first shot I fired with that Marine's M1 caused the weapon to jam. We were lucky we had the high ground, and were firing down on the enemy at a distance. After stripping the weapon, under fire, and cleaning it - cussing that Marine all this time - it proved to be a reliable weapon.
