I'm sorry, but all of the sources are uniform on this.  It was in the
second or third message MacArthur sent to DOD that he requested a Marine
reinforced RCT.  And he was most delighted when an entire Division was
offered to FEC.  You might want to read Clay Blair's section on this, still
the most thorough single-volume history of the Korean War.
