Armistice day

I happened to be in Canada last year on Nov. 11. They call it Remembrance Day there. And they really do remember! Newspapers were full of articles and pictures of all wars. And everyone wore poppies. Everyone! There was a strong wind blowing across the ferry from the Vancouver Island, and it blew the poppy off the chest of a young man standing on the upper deck near me. It landed on a deck just beyond the guard rail. He  tried vainly to reach it. I am taller, and my arms are longer, so I tried to reach it. When the wind blew it off the ship I handed him my poppy. He thanked me profusely, but my biggest reward was the big smile his pretty girlfriend gave this old guy.
