We had only wood. Sometimes, we were lucky just to get rations. Once, a
detail went down the hill to pick up our rations from the truck. They
returned empty-handed. The truck didn't come. The second day they went down
the hill. Still, no truck. When the ration truck finally arrived the next
day the truck driver said we had been surrounded for three days. And no one
told us!
