Great meal
Gang
Yesterday I and other Korean War Vet were honored at our church.
We all received a gold lapel pin of the Korean flag and US Flag. Also a desk set of the two flags. Both were of High quality and a nice presentation.
At the end of the presentation We were all taken over to the dinning commons where two type of lunch was served. The traditional Korean foods were served and also American food.
I bellied up to the Korean food Catered by a Korean restaurant here in town. I ate Kimchi, egg rolls beef with a sauce that was a real treat. We were waited on by Koreans of that era and their children. They gave us the luncheon from their restaurant in appreciation for the efforts in Korea so many years ago. The Kimchi was not as hot as I remember it. I remember the kind that would take the paint off the walls. This was mild. Thank goodness.
The Koreans was so thankful for what the US had done for them they could not stay away from us.. I wore a ring that was given to me by my boat crew as I was leaving Korean. They recognized it immediately as a Korean handcrafted ring and that it was 24 carrot gold. One of the younger and prettier girls told me not to wear it because it was too soft to wear. I never wear it because of that Hence the carving is Still in good shape.
All in all We really had a nice day and it was nice to have all the people make over us. Something that did not happen when We first came home.
