HAHAHAHA. DF, I think the 53 years that have passed since I wore a BAR ammo belt now causes me to grunt when I lift 20 pounds.

Ths differnce is that you could shoulder the Ammo

and the Legs take the weight...

 

The Rifle you could get a solid grip and could hold it close to your center of balance.

The ability to grip makes a big diference picking up bulky items..

It is hard to realize they weighed just a pound and a half less than the sack of dog food that causes me to grunt as I lift it out of my hatchback. I wonder how much the ammo belt that I wore as asst. BAR man weighed.
